Both Gerald Darlene Ho Yew Fung and Isaac Hamsap Leong Hin Loong were in town for the GFS Anniversary Dinner Concert for the weekend. After the long yet great night in Banting (the most happening small town in Msia!), they both of them needed something to calm their stomachs before heading back home to Ipoh.

Since they didn’t want the infamous chilli pan mee in Restaurant Kin Kin off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, we headed to SS2 hoping to find great food. Coincidently, we tried it at Restaurant Sun Hin Loong. That got Hin Loong all hyped up!

Here it is home to a rather famous steamed duck noodle stall.

The duck noodles here comes in either mee sua (min sin in canto) and yee mee. The beauty of this dish lies not in the duck meat, as it was too cooked for my liking, but it lies in the fragrant herbal (yok choy) soup that reminds me of those that your mom cooks.
After the meal, we headed to the shop located directly behind Restaurant Sun Hin Loong for this.

Homi chicken curry puff offers one of the largest curry puffs you’ll ever find in Klang Valley at only RM 1.20 per piece. The amount of butter he uses for the pastry will evidently blow you off but be warned that one piece too many will upset your appetite for further meals.
Oh, by the way, Gerald, I can’t help but compare the balding man with you. Now I know how you will look years from now!

Those who know me in person would probably tell you that I speak Bahasa Malaysia very well. Most of the time I pass of as a Malay chap because of the heavy northern slang that I picked up during my schooling days back in Anderson High School.
I have never hidden my admiration for the national language since I was a child. IMHO, the malay language is one of the most beautiful languages in the world – from the wide vocabulary usages and the sajak‘s and puisi‘s. To be honest, I strongly believe that every Malaysian, be it the Bumiputera‘s or other etnic groups, SHOULD be able to speak the language fluently or one might as well not be a Malaysian.
Unfortunately, more and more English words/terms “telah dimelayukan“, utterly destroying the language all together.
Wouldn’t “penguasaan” be a much appropriate word?

See what I mean? Even the word “studi” is coined up.

What happened to words like “tulen“/”sebenar“/”model“??

Life is cheesy, no?

Seriously. This is getting out of hand.
Dewan, Bahasa & Pustaka could really use a helping hand in this.
MEMARTABATKAN BAHASA MALAYSIA, KONONNYA.

So I was back in the peaceful city of Ipoh just before the Hari Raya festival, and it seems that development here is picking up at a very slow pace, second to none. There were some very pleasant sights, those involving the improvement of the city.
Unfortunately the drivers remained the same. Coupled with the influx of outstation traffic, moving around this serene town was not as smooth as I would have wanted it to be.

It was in fact a stand still on Jalan Hospital and around Seenivasagam Park. So bad I wish I could just fly. KL would have been proud of the jam here!Well I guess it’s been a rather long time since I was last back in Ipoh, spending time with my family. Nowadays, it’s easier for them to come up to KL to meet up for dinner than me having to drive back down for the weekend.

Finally I had a taste of the massive LCD that my dad snapped up in Kepong a few months back. Picture clarity and sound precision was the Regza’s strong points whilst the 6.1 Philips Cineos gave a full bodied surround sound. It’s jolly high time that my parents enjoyed the fine side of life.

Short as time may be spent back here, it’s a nice and quiet town. It just grows on you. Events here aren’t out of date and it sure ain’t that to date. It’s as though Ipoh is in suspended animation. And that’s not such a bad thing anyway.Great food and slow paced lifestyle makes Ipoh….pleasant.

I’ll never forget my roots.

I’m still in doubt of shifting permanently to WordPress from Xanga, well most because of its sentimental value I guess. AND all my previous posts! We’ll see how things goes on, I’ll decide from there.
I was in the newly opened The Gardens @ Midvalley. At first impression it was rather small in comparison with Midvalley itself but The Gardens targeting the up market patrons does well with major designer brands as well as Robinsons and Isetan providing excellent shopping ambiances.
Some how The Gardens does remind me of KLCC and one shopping centre in Penang.
Spotted Baskin Robbins in the area and went in to have a cold treat!

Now that’s a horrible tagline. Guys would understand. Girls? Put two and two together.
