:: The One With Sunway Pyramid ::
Sunway Pyramid joined in the up-market segment after Midvalley’s The Gardens and the more recent Putrajaya Holding’s Pavillion Kuala Lumpur, with their own Phase 2. I’ve heard of how nice it was and frankly, after being mesmerized with The Gardens and Pavillion KL, the long awaited trip to Sunway Pyramid materialized even with the horrendous traffic jams in the area.

Phase 2 is built upon an extension of the old parking lot of Phase 1, which explains the huge columns in the middle of the walkways.

The escalators remind me of the design used in The Gardens.

Honestly, I cant help but feel that Sunway Group was in a hurry to complete the 2nd Phase as there were still foreign workers doing some touch up work. Adding to that is that usage of bland 1 by 1 feet tiles as their finishing. With practically all modern day shopping malls using 2 by 2 feet tiles to add a wider/bigger area visual, Sunway Pyramid seriously dealt a serious blow to their own image.

After walking around about for some time, suddenly the interior theme changed drastically to some middle east theme. IMHO, it was horribly out of place.

Over at the other end, as I was just getting out of my disgust of the change of theme, Sunway Pyramid totally threw me off. The colour was a total mismatch and it plain made it an eye sore.

On the overall, I wouldn’t recommend Phase 2 in comparison with the old Phase 1. Its just plain yuck. Up-market? Nothing compared to Pavillion. Luckily, Subway had a outlet here and I’ve never tried it.

Subway offers 12 different sandwiches ranging from 6″ to a 12″ per sandwich to choose from, each with can be tailored to customer preference at a very reasonable price indeed. Great taste, healthier than fast food outlets makes Subway the way to go!

It seems that the malls in Asia are getting bigger and bigger and at this rate M’sia is going to have the largest malls in the world due to the rate of expansion at the cost of sweat blood and tears of the abused voice. Here in the North East we only have Metro Centre and thats nothing.

gerald : you know la, in msia, anything also boleh wan. thats why they like SO DARN MANY THINGS TO CHOOSE FROM.
jill : the tiles totally suck. they bring down the whole ambience. the small tiles make the overall area sempit visually.
I’m using the panasonic lumix fx9. its old now and the processor is really slowing down, its hard to focus on things now. thinking of getting a d40 nikon next time when i work. nothing fancy though. not pro photographer.
