:: The One with Beauty in Malaysia ::

Everything in the govt controlled papers have been dishing alot of punishment to the HINDRAF leaders and that by all means does not paint a very nice picture of Malaysia. We have not seen the better side of Malaysia for quite awhile now; When have you seen people in LRT’s giving their seat to a needy?

Ignorance would be a good description of the general public.

I’ve always thought that the grass is always greener on the other side. But that’s not the case, many are oblivious to the fact that Malaysia is truly a blessed nation, well, not in the ruling govt side perhaps.

I was in Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) last weekend, not knowing what to expect there in Selayang. After paying a minimal fee to enter the facility, a hike up a trail started along this pond opposite the Information Center. It may look like any other pond, but it is home to a few humungous arowana fishes that are about the height of an adult male.

It was a hike along the Keruing Trail as the main attraction of FRIM, the canopy walkway was under maintenance works. The trail is home to the world’s largest bamboo species and to many other great flora.

The place is really magnificent. Nature at it’s best I would say. But it is sad to see not many people know about FRIM albeit the regular joggers in and about the country.

WOW. That was my exact words when I feasted my eyes towards heaven. The canopy of each tree never touches the other, making me ponder the wonders of the work of God.

The hike was a rather short hike, most of the trails were under maintenance. The open road led me towards the heart of the capital of Malaysia into the Lake Gardens of KL(Tugu Negara area).

There are many parks here, for example the National Bird Park and the National Orchid Park.

There were way too many tourists flocking the bird park, so I ventured into the orchid park instead.

You see, Malaysia is really a beautiful, multi-coloured nation. Yea, its rotten at places. But it’s still the country I was born in. Whether you like it or not, we are all in it together, clinging on the same lifeline as the flowers are on its stem. One bad egg doesn’t make the whole basket rotten.

Beauty is a perspective.

You just have to find it.

Heheh, whenever I ride komuter, LRt, Putra etc, I normally prefer to stand than sitting down cuz wanna give it to the older or even handicapped ppl.

It felt rly great actually, getting “thank you”s from blind ppl, old men, women.

Bt my, I’ve nvr liked the idea of goin to the wild….kampung also I dun like (hv experienced boarding school wit lots of kampung ppl)!! Haha, I am sooo pro-urban :p

Msia could do more about promoting our forte: food. If Japan can convince ppl to eat raw fish, raw egg (yes, chicken egg!!), eel aka unagi (+ sweet soy sauce = my fav!!), we can definitely do better. And if one were to argue Msian foods are mostly unhealthy, McD, KFC, A&W, BK, etc hv done the impossible then. Yes, Msian foods are definitely beautiful, nyehehehehe…..

tokmoh : lol the last time i offered my seat to a woman, a foreign alien just cut through and sat on the seat!

i think its a change of scene. how do i put this, being in the concrete jungle every single day makes me wanna escape to the outskirts of town where things are just more peaceful to a certain extent.

msian food at times are great, but just stay out of the kitchen, you seriously dont wanna know the how, what, when things that go on in the background.

    ahh…nice nice!!!!!

anyway..true..so true….i always tell my friends that…….grass may not always be greener after all..if we choose to see it from a better perspective…:)

  • Kevin Quah Says:

gerald : that’s why you came back ma no meh? certain things overseas is great, but somethings in msia u just miss ya?

  • tokmoh Says:

Hmm…..I’ve heard many things abt the stuffs in the kitchen, but the sushi restaurant I used to work with (Don Sushi, Carrefour SJ) has impressive hygiene. But I think McD’s hygiene is the best out there. What I hear from my friend who used to part-time there is enough to convince me McD is very padentic about its kitchens’ hygiene.

I do cook now, and I can tell, IT’S FUN!!

  • Kevin Quah Says:

tokmoh : lol, those that have SOP’s surely have a standard of hygiene to follow ma. i was referring to hawker stall’s especially run by the chinese.
but the funny thing is, in certain cases, the more dirty the nicer the meal! there are some cases were they were initially super dirty, business was superb but when they shifted to a clean environment, business went down the drain.

hey you cook! i used to cook for my gf last year, but now all i cook is maggi mee!

  • geraldho Says:

    hehehe..yes yes…..too hard to resist…IE: FOOD and Church…hehehe….
except the weather la..sometimes..i can get dizzy due to the heat..hehee

  • Kevin Quah Says:

gerald : u silly bugger. hide in the shade la.
