  • KitKat Says:

Kongratulasi!!! Petronas pun nak kasi kamu hadiah utama bernilai RM10 juta ringgit!! Petronas lagi generous pasal Petronas Malaysian mar… Mareyshia bisa boleh!! Kwakakakaka!!

I was reading the papers the past week or two IIANM, of a news on how ppl believe the “O hai, imma giv u USD99999trillion inherit by my granpa the king of Uluko in Africa who just died, so gimme ur bank a/c n p/w, kthxbye!!” scam. I had the best facepalm of my life la……

Vince n Kitkat : speaking of which, today while otw to a PutraLRT station in PJ, I spotted a scarlet red F430 :)

  • vincent Says:

    kevin : true true..

tokmoh : hmmm.. getting too common nowadays. time for the 599.

  • Kevin Says:

tokmoh+vincent : you dua ni, kereta je….kerja karang baru perasan, nak sara kereta ni….costs more than sara diri.

  • tokmoh Says:

Tengok aje… lepas tu masuk Putra-LRT pula huhuhu…

But to be honest, I think Putra-LRT is world-class. Frequent and fast, it’s almost strange that it exists in our lovely Mareyshia. Can’t say the same for Komuter n bus services though, hehe.

  • KitKat Says:

Tokmoh : Yeah I agree, but the KTM sucks like hell… What to do, Keretapi Taktentu Masa ba…

  • Kevin Says:

kitkat + tokmoh : hmm, i masa study kat UKM naik KTM beratus kali hanya sekali dua rosak je. kadang kadang kesian jugak kat KTM (mcm Proton).

  • KitKat Says:

Yea come to think of it it’s the cheapest mode of transportation around KL.

The line I took was the Petaling-Subang line, and there is once the train kaput before the Seri Setia station, have to walk on the tracks…

  • tokmoh Says:

Well, my dad worked with KTM before he retired two years ago, and I can say, he had a tough career. Whenever derailments happen, he’ll have to be there, even when it’s in the middle of the night.

They’re not profitable all these while, and only recently they announced they wanted to post RM1 profit for this financial year. Yes, SATU ringgit sahaja untung. So u can imagine the hardness of implementing something new, let alone maintaining the rolling stocks they currently have.

Nevertheless, I’d still prefer to ride Komuter than driving into KL. Seteruk-teruk Komuter pun, it couldn’t be any worse than driving. Parking in KL gives me nightmare, especially its effect to my wallet. Because of that, I dunno the roads of KL at all, lol.

I think people would’ve forgiven them not being punctual if they can be frequent, like every 8 minutes or so. It’s the reason why I like Putra-LRT aka Kelana Jaya line. Waiting for over 20 minutes is quite a turn off, which makes the pressure to be punctual mouting high (and I admit they rarely do), and the most frustrating part about riding Komuter to me. Overcrowding during peak time is normal, heck, even London tube and SG’s MRT overcrowd, so I’m not pissed by that.

In fact I see steps taken which I really like. They now have hybrid coach, driven by diesel, which stops at stations with high volume of commuters. If the KTM MD’s true to his words, I really look forward to the next few years, hoping to reduce waiting and increased reliabilities.

My ultimate dream though, is for one day to see KTM using shinkansen running stock yohohoho

  • KitKat Says:

Yea, and it’s still cheapest mode of transportation around KL, even the stations are strategically placed. I dun mind the crowded trains so long I can get to my destination safely. Even the London tube is no better than KTM, always late!!!

  • KitKat Says:

But still you get for what you paid for.

  • kevin Says:

kitkat : lol. thats the longest comment ever!

yeap, i heard that KTM has not been making a single cent of profit for years now. and that i guess is the primary reason why they have so many breakdowns (tak kira overburden, super long distance, no $$ for maintenance yet alone new carriages).

and ppl dont seem to understand the situation. but i guess thats the problem with malaysians in general. they criticize every at opportunity available. make it worse, its not constructive criticism.

  • Kitkat Says:

Guess we need another Idris Jala…

  • KitKat Says:

    Me?? That’s Tokmoh dude…

Yea I’ve read it on the papers before, maybe my expectation is too high, should migrate to Japan haha…

  • kevin Says:

kitkat + tokmoh : lol. signs i’m getting old.

migrating to another country, well you lose the problems you face here but inherit new ones there.

    grass aint so green everywhere.

Kitkat: The other day I was ym-ing with my fren who’s stuying in UK, n he was telling me the trouble his fren had to go through when the London Tube staffs made a strike. What normally took 5 minutes turned into hours of torture for his fren. Hehe, I guess the benchmark do make some slip-ups once in a while.

I wanna ride on a shinkansen someday :3

Japan nice country to visit but not stay. I guess I’m a type yg prefer hujan batu di negeri sendiri, lol. Although, occasionally experiencing hujan emas is nice I admit :)

Kev: Train industry is tough, kan? In fact, almost every train service have been through bankruptcy of some sort, of which all end up ‘rescued’ by Prasarana. Sunway once wanted to make its own monorail line, but as can be seen today, the rail lines n a station remain as a hiasan in front of Sunway Pyramid.

What can be summed up is train industry is very hard to get economic of scale. Extremely high startup cost, but either small amount of ridership or cost of tickets too low to recoup back the invested amount.

Small amount of ridership –> yes, it is packed during peak hours n weekend, but the rest of the time, sikit.

Cost of tickets too low –> increasing it will just kill the point of using public transport.

  • KitKat Says:

Kev: Yup there will be torns in a bunch of roses…

    Tokmoh: Well said here bro!
