Short update :
I hate pills.

We started off the second day, full of excitement, heading off for boating on Toba Lake.
Makes you wonder of the magnificent creations of God, doesn’t it?
Panoramic shot of the “jetty” area at Parapat.
1st stop was at Tomok or Ambarita Village. I honestly can’t recall which village is which village. Ended up visit some old king’s tomb.
Right behind these tombs was this auspicious hut which bore the sign “Joro Habonaran Sacrificial Place”.
A bouquet shot of the tomb. Quite surprised most of the tombs we went to, bore the cross.
Then there was this local cultural dance some of us took part in. Notice that kerbau? According to folklore, the kerbau represents good/evil. So happens that when we arrive, the stupid kerbau crapped right in front of us. Seems that we aren’t that good huh?
Nonetheless, it was a great show by the team. Well, except for parts where I swear the local was blabbering curses in hokkien.
Randy decided to curse him back and he got pancung-ed.
Nah, it was part of a exhibition on how the locals punished criminals in their time.
Next was Tao Island (Honeymoon Island).
Yea its pretty, but I still don’t see the correlation to the usage of honeymoon.
Some took the golden oppurtunity to dip in Toba Lake.
I, on the other hand, took the oppurtunity to get some shots of the area.

grace : wtf. but it was funny the whole incident. i think i should do a stand alone post on how they torture the victim before him/her is beheaded.

Nice place.. But Lake Toba is the lake on top of the volcano right? I heard it’s still active but there wasn’t any recent activity.
Oh they spoke Hokkien? I should go there sometime.. I’m suffering in Kampar for being unable to converse with the local who speaks Cantonese or Mandarin..

Vince: Yeah, medanese chinese community do speak hokkien. Impressive considering Indonesian schools don’t teach that language, but it is also why medanese chinese are not too liked by Indonesian malays, I mean indons. I mean malays. I mean… argh…

Vincent : In Miri the locals are able to speak that language, but different “hiau” la…
Kev : I was quite surprised that they speak hokkien there, easier for the Penang ppl to converse with the locals. Anyway really like your pictures here, wish I can do this with mine… BTW what kinda “pills” are you refering to?

tokmoh : =p lol. i think in the towns they can speak a number of dialects. i saw thousands of babi panggang signs.
kitkat : kekeke, it was not hokkien. sounded like it. was some local batak dialect.
ah, the pics were taken with vivid+ mode then i came back and saturated them further. some i over did it, look a bit the fake.
i caught a flu bug just before i went medan and it flared up a few days ago. pills refered to medication. =p
